Ten people arrested after woman stabbed in Sussex

Police investigating a stabbing in Sussex are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Officers were called to Queens Road, Hastings, at about 1am on Sunday (May 10) to reports that a person had been attacked with a knife during an altercation between two groups of people.

The victim - a 25-year-old woman - suffered a knife injury to her leg, according to police. She was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Ten people - six men, three women and a boy - were arrested, a police spokesman said.

In a statement, Sussex Police said: "Two 20-year-old men, a 19-year-old man, a 24-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

"A 21-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

"An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

"A 20-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A and B drugs and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

"A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug and causing grievous bodily harm with intent."

They have all been released under investigation while enquiries continue, police added.

Police said one of the suspects – a 21-year-old woman - sustained a minor injury to her neck that officers believe may also have been caused by a knife. She did not require hospital treatment.

Detective Constable Steve Venner said: "We are urging anyone who witnessed anything to come forward and speak to us about it.

"If you were in the Queens Road area in the early hours of Sunday morning and have any information that may assist with our investigation then we would like to hear from you.

"This was an awful incident in which two people were injured and we’re working to establish the full circumstances of what has taken place.

"Please report information to us online or by calling 101, quoting serial 96 of 10/05."
