Police were concerned for their safety, the spokesman said, so a drone was deployed and assistance sought from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, which deployed an aerial ladder.

The two people were not located and units stood down shortly before 8pm.

Anyone with information about the pair is asked to report online or call 101 quoting serial 988 of 11/02.
