Trial date set for Sussex man accused of killing two women more than 30 years ago

A Sussex man is to go on trial next year accused of the murders of two women more than 30 years ago.

David Fuller appeared by prison video link from Lewes Prison at Maidstone Crown Court today (Tuesday, December 8), and spoke to confirm his name and date of birth.

He has been charged with killing Wendy Knell, 25, and Caroline Pierce, 20, both of Tunbridge Wells, in 1987.

The 66-year-old, of Alder Close, Heathfield, East Sussex, is expected to formally enter his pleas at a Plea and Trial Preparation hearing on January 7, next year.

His trial has now been set for July 5, 2021, which may be in front of a High Court judge.

Prosecutor Martin Yale told Judge David Griffith-Jones QC this morning there was no application for bail and he was remanded into custody.

Mr Fuller is represented by Katherine Donnelly, who said she had no representations to make.
