VIDEO: Worthing newsagents robbed

A Worthing newsagents was robbed by a man with handgun early this morning.

The robbery took place at Broadway News & Gifts, in Brighton Road, just after 5.30am today.

The man went into Broadway News & Gifts in Brighton Road and threatened the shop assistant who handed over the cash float.

As he left the shop, he dropped the cash till tray outside the front door and ran eastwards along the Brighton Road.

He is described as dark-skinned, wearing a black hooded top with the hood pulled up over his face and the front of his top pulled up covering his face. He was also wearing a black baseball cap.

He is described as around 5’ 10” - 6’, of slim build and in his early 20s.

Detective Sergeant Simon Dunn said: “The man was carrying a black handgun and we are looking at two other recent armed robberies in the town to see if there are links. If you saw anything, no matter how insignificant you think that might be, please let us know.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information about it is asked to email [email protected] or call 101 quoting serial 133 of 22/08.”
