Woman arrested over attempted abduction of six-year-old girl outside Worthing School

POLICE investigating a report that a six-year-old girl was approached as she left her Worthing school on Tuesday afternoon (October 2) have arrested a woman on suspicion of attempted abduction.

The 40-year-old was arrested on Wednesday, October 3, and has been questioned and released on bail until October 23 with strict conditions to stay away from the school.

The incident happened near Heene Primary School, in Norfolk Street.

Inspector Oliver Fisher said: “We are providing reassurance in the area and school liaison officers will be attending the school to reinforce the message to children about talking to strangers. We would encourage anyone to report suspicious activity, which we will always take seriously.”
