Jacqui, 51, of Penfold Road, will be part of a group of ten friends heading out to Nepal in November.

She said: “We have done other charity treks, such as the Great wall of China for the rebuild of the St Barnabas hospice in 2010, Grand Canyon and some of the group have also done the Inca trek and cycled Vietnam to Cambodia, all for charity.

“The November trek is to raise funds for both the Alzheimer’s Society and Macmillan Cancer Support‎, and between us, we are doing various fundraising events, including cake sales, jewellery making, car treasure hunts, pamper evenings and curry nights.”

Jacqui’s curry night, held at The Touch of Spice in Downlands Parade, Worthing, last Sunday, raised just over £700.

Businesses donated vouchers to the one-winner raffle and there was a guess the marshmallows in the jar competition for the 40 diners.

“It was a great night,” said Jacqui. “The total pot so far is more than £2,000. Nicky Newell won the £95 prize of vouchers and was thrilled. Everyone enjoyed the night.”
