Cycle marathon pushes Worthing staff to physical limits

STAFF from a Worthing opticians have pushed themselves to the physical limit to raise money for charity.

The team at Specsavers, in Montague Street, hosted a cycle marathon and fundraising day for two charities, Rockinghorse Children’s Charity and BBC Children in Need.

More than £1,500 was raised after staff took turns to cycle as far as they could on exercise bikes outside the store and a range of baked sweet treats were offered to encourage donations from the community.

Jasvinder Sarao, store director at Specsavers Worthing, said: “We had a target to cycle a total of 200 miles but managed to beat this and hit 238 miles instead.

“It was wonderful seeing all of the staff get involved and it created a real buzz in store.

“Rockinghorse and Children in Need do a tremendous amount of work supporting disabled children and those with life-threatening conditions, so it’s vital we continue to support them.

“We would like to thank everyone for all of their support and donations.”

Rockinghorse children’s charity is the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton.

BBC Children in Need is the a UK charity which aims to change the lives of disabled children and young people.

Specsavers is a partnership, with each store part-owned and managed by its own directors, who are supported by key specialists in support offices, providing a range of services including marketing and accounting.
