The council will arrange for grass affected by a digger on Adur Recreation Ground to be reinstated as soon as possible.

The council has said the damage was caused by a digger, operated by contractors on behalf of the Environment Agency.

It was working to set up compound areas as part of the Adur Tidal Walls project, according to Andy Edwards, head of environment at Adur District Council.

“We have made aware of damage caused,” he said.

“We are liaising with the contractors to mitigate any further damage during the current wet weather and arranging for the grassed area affected to be reinstated as soon as possible.”
