The annual festival began with group performances from acts in the under nine category at the Pavilion Theatre.

Jan Spooner-Swabey, WMAAF secretary, said: “It’s lovely, it’s been really super. It started the weekend with quite a big bang. We had a very big attendance and there were some fantastic performances.”

One of those performances came courtesy of a group of boys from the Worthing-based Glendale Theatre Arts School, who performed a ‘marvellous’ routine dressed as James Bond.

This year, Craig Bartley was the adjudicator for the dance performances. Craig has starred in numerous shows in London’s West End and choreographed across Europe and the United States.

Jan said he set a ‘wonderful atmosphere’, and the performers and audience ‘really enjoyed him’.

Keeping with tradition, Craig provided the first performers with bags of sweets.
