Davison girls win regional Young Enterprise award
A Young Enterprise team from Davison CE High School for Girls in Worthing has won a regional award.
The girls who set up Charm2Chain, a business selling distinctive hand-made jewellery, won Best Presentation after their performance in the regional finals in Dorking. This brings the teams’ total number of Young Enterprise awards up to 12.
Mrs Ann Warwick, centre lead for Charm2Chain, said: “With their dedication and commitment, they deserve the awards they have won.
“They will be selling off their remaining stock before winding the company up to concentrate on their GCSEs but can still be contacted on their website [email protected] or on Twitter.”
The girls won the south east finals and Sussex county finals of the Young Enterprise Scheme and part of their prize was a workshop with BBC presenter John Young.
He went to Davison to give them a Newsroom Book Camp, focusing on presentation skills within media and the basics of how media works.
Mrs Warwick said: “It was an amazing afternoon spent building confidence and skills such as business skills, teamwork and delivery of presentations.
“They were introduced to the cast of a TV newsroom and behind-the-scenes decisions that newsrooms have to take.
“The session was inspirational and motivational and it was a delight to see their confidence grow as the afternoon progressed.”
