Day of Dance returns to Horsham

Colourful costumes, magnificent music and dazzling dancing will be lighting up Horsham town centre today (Saturday May 9).

The Broadwood Morris Men’s Day of Dance will be returning to the town and the group are inviting member of the public to come down and join them and others in their annual celebration of Morris.

The event has been organised by Broadwood Morris Men with support from Horsham District Council and other Morris sides from the South and South East of England are set to join the festivities

The day will start with a procession from the Shelley Fountain to the Bandstand in the Carfax at 10am.

Sides will then disperse to various stands around the town until about 2pm when there will be a ceilidh and barn dance at the Bandstand.

Graham Hirst, the Day of Dance co-ordinator for the Broadwood Morris Men, said: “We are pleased to have around 20 sides coming to our annual Day of Dance in Horsham town centre this year.”

As well as the celebration Horsham’s Local Produce Market will be going medieval for the day in the Carfax.

There will be an inter-stall competition for the best stalls with traders dressing up in sorts of medieval style costumes.

Stalls will also be selling medieval style food including fresh meat, eggs and delicious local fruit and veg.
