Dementia care is an NHS trust’s priority

Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has made dementia care a priority this year and at its annual general meeting, staff delivered a presentation on the crucial work they do.

Ailyn Yeo, consultant in medical care for the elderly, has worked for the NHS for 25 years and said she always wanted to work with the elderly.

Dr Yeo said: “One of the things I think doctors need to do is to learn not just to think of patients as patients with dementia but as people with an illness like anyone else. There’s a fear attached to any memory loss and we need to reassure people who are worried about their memory.”
