Traders from Dieppe will have stalls on Denton Island and there will also be a funfair, face painting, bouncy castle, local artists corner and the chance to win a car courtesy of Newhaven Tate s garage.

Town traders will set up stalls in the high street, which will decorated with red white and blue bunting. Parking will be free.

Norman Mayhew, Newhaven Chamber of Commerce President, said: Local residents and visitors flocked to the town for Christmas late night shopping and the previously held French markets and we are hoping for similar success. We need to encourage people to visit Newhaven and if this market is successful then we will look to hold further events in the future.

Newhaven Economic Partnership is a sponsor of the market. Its programme manager Sarah Ireland said: The market will enhance the links Newhaven has with Dieppe and at the same time give a boost to town centre traders.

The market will start at 11pm on September 15.
