West Sussex County Council Library Service has just launched eComics to sit alongside the hundreds of eBooks, eAudio and eMagazines already available.

This is a new online library service where customers with a library card can download thousands of comics and graphic novels at www.westsussex.gov.uk/ebooks

The eComics site contains more than 16,000 graphic novels and comics from a range of publishers. Titles include comedy, children’s, super heroes, romance, and manga titles.

Customers can check out an unlimited number of comics or graphic novels. Titles are issued for seven days but can be immediately re-issued once they expire.

The comics can be read in the customer’s browser via a reader – in a similar way to eMagazines.

Alternatively there is an app available for Apple devices which can be downloaded from the website.

An app for Android devices will be available later in 2016.

More than 4,000 newspapers and magazines from across the globe are also available free of charge to library members.

The newspapers come from more than 100 countries and are in 60 languages.

Users can also translate articles into 16 languages, either to or from English in these digital versions, which are updated daily and available 24/7.

They can be read directly from computers, tablets or mobiles.

There is also the facility to download the day’s edition at libraries and then read it anywhere offline.

The PressReader App can be downloaded in any of the county council’s 36 libraries, by connecting to the library wifi and download the newspaper of your choice.

Those looking to hear the news rather than read can use the ‘interactive radio’ function.
