Dinner dance in Worthing raises hundreds for charity

FUNERAL directors from across Sussex attended a dinner dance in Worthing last Saturday and raised hundreds of pounds for charity.

The evening raised £570 for this year’s president’s charity, Winston’s Wish, who look after bereaved children.

Tony Hauck, Sussex County Association of Funeral Directors secretary, said: “A great night was had by all. Great food from Indigo Restaurant and a great disco and fun casino.”

The annual event, organised by the Sussex County Association of Funeral Directors, took place at The Ardington Hotel, in Steyne Gardens, and was attended by the mayor of Worthing Bob Smytherman, mayoress Norah Fisher and her assistance dog Herbie.

Simon Fisher, The National Association President, his wife Jane and the Sussex County Association President Abi Pattenden and her husband Daniel were also in attendance.

The Association is the largest trade association for funeral directors representing and maintaining standards of around 80 per cent of all funeral homes.
