Dog walker pulls man from sea

A WOMAN is being hailed as a hero after pulling an elderly man from the sea at Camber on Sunday.

Joanne Sullivan, from Sevenoaks, was walking her dog on the beach when she spotted a man floating face down in the water.

She waded in to pull him ashore and used resuscitation techniques to revive him until a paramedic arrived.

Friend Maggie Tyrer explained: “Fortunately Joanne is a horse trainer for the Metropolitan Police and had undergone life saving training.

“An American gentleman helped her pull in the man as he was too heavy for her. She put the man, who was in his 70’s in the recovery position and finally he was sick but the tide was still coming in and he needed to be pulled further up the beach. After 15 minutes a paramedic arrived and the man was taken away in an ambulance.

“Sadly she lost her purse and credit card in the rescue and also found she had an £80 parking ticket. We are hoping the council may rescind the ticket given the circumstances.”
