DOZENS of kind-hearted residents have braved the elements in a sleep out event for Worthing Churches Homeless Projects.

The event at Broadwater CofE Primary School, saw those taking part last Saturday devising a range of shelters in a bid to raise a total of £8,000 for the cause.

Rachel Hulder, of the charity, felt it had been a real success, though poor weather conditions ensured it was a tough night out.

She said: “I was actually quite glad it rained on the night as it made me realise just how hard it is for people who are actually on the streets having to try and not get wet, keep hold of their belongings and keeping themselves safe as well.”

Donations may be made at or direct to Worthing Churches Homeless Projects at 13 Grafton Road, Worthing, BN11 1QP. For more on the story, see the next edition of the Worthing Herald.
