Drizzle reins in a supreme showing

Emily Lawes, 34, was "over the moon" with her results, which were won at Pachesham Equestrian Centre, Leatherhead, Surrey.

Competing on Castle Keeps Three For Gold, affectionately known as "Drizzle", Emily was up against world class horses and riders, some of Olympic Squad standard.

She said: "Drizzle performed brilliantly, showing what a real star he is."

Emily's day begins at 5.30am, when she gets up to train and exercise her two horses with cousin Jennie Hopkins, before going to work as a teaching assistant at St Mary's Special School.

Despite the credit crunch, she is still ploughing on with her dream to compete in the next Paralympics '“ but costs are soaring and she needs help.

She said: " If any kind readers out there can help with servicing of my old lorry, diesel, training costs, feed, shoeing of my horses every six weeks, clothing or tack to help keep alive my chance of representing Bexhill at London 2012."

SBS consumables in London Road, Bexhill, is collecting empty ink jet cartridges (except Epson cartridges) and old mobile phones to raise cash for Emily.

Emily is also chairman of the Bexhill Horse Show, now in its 106th year, which is held on Monday May 25 at the Polegrove.

A small display of Para showjumping will take place during the day, and a stand representing British Para Showjumping Association, founded by Emily's husband Andy, will also be at the show.
