Durrington Library to temporarily close its doors

A NEW chapter will soon begin at Durrington Library – but only after a temporary closure.

The branch will be decorated and improved during the closure, which starts at 5pm on Friday, October 12.

A number of new self-service machines – which help readers to borrow and return books themselves using touch-screen technology – will also be installed.

The library will reopen at 10am on Monday, November 5.

Lionel Barnard, county council deputy leader responsible for the library service, said: “The redecoration will make sure the library is kept up to date, while continuing to provide a comfortable atmosphere for their readers.

“People will still be able to borrow as many as 20 books before the closure.

“A number of nearby branches will also be open while the updates are carried out, including Worthing, Goring and Findon Valley.”
