Durrington mum proud of daughter’s achievement

A WOMAN with hydrocephalus was presented with the Duke of Edinburgh gold award at a reception in St James’ Palace.

Gemma Mills, 22, of Franklin Road, Durrington, was presented with the award by Prince Phillip and the Norwegian expedition leader that led Prince Harry and wounded soldiers to the North Pole on a televised expedition.

Gemma’s mum Sylvia, 63, also of Franklin Road, said she was very proud of her daughter’s achievement.

“It was a wonderful day and one Gemma will remember,” she said.

“Gemma was the only participant with a wheelchair, which proves whatever your disability you should never give up. Follow your dreams, everything is possible.”
