Durrington Parklife bid for People’s Millions

MEMBERS of a Durrington action group are asking people to pick up their phones today and vote for them to win £50,000 funding for new playground facilities.

A group of mums, who set up Park Life Community Action Group, have applied to the People’s Millions for the funding, which would pay for an environmentally-friendly, well-equipped play park on the green space which backs onto Chiltern Crescent.

People’s Millions is a partnership between ITV and the Big Lottery Fund, where the public decides which community group should benefit from funding.

Carla Harvey, of Cotswold Road, said: “We really, really need people to vote for us.

“All they have to do is make one phone call and the money could be ours. We have just one competitor so we are in with a good chance.

“We created the community action group 18 months ago because we were very frustrated that the beautiful space behind our homes has so much potential, but currently the park equipment is either missing or very outdated. We really hope people support us.”

Votes can be cast today only, from 9am to midnight on 0871 626 88 63.
