Following a handbag robbery in Worthing last month (March), police have released an e-fit of a suspect.

The incident happened in Worthing town centre at around 6.30pm on Thursday 1 March, where a woman had her handbag snatched as she was walking home.

The victim, 39, was approached by a man at the junction of Liverpool Gardens and Shelley Road, who bumped into her and grabbed the bag. He forced it away from her, causing her to fall to the floor.

The offender then ran north in Liverpool Road and is thought to have left the area in a blue vehicle, similar to a Vauxhall Astra.

Detective Constable Tony Taylor of West Sussex CID said: “Since the incident we have been working to trace the offender but haven’t been able to do so at this stage.

“The victim has been able to assist us in putting together an efit of the offender and I’m hoping that someone may recognise him.”

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 1435 of 1 March or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
