East Preston competition could unearth next super star DJ

ASPIRING DJs of all ages are being urged to reach for their decks and take part an innovative amateur competition which could have them hosting a live session alongside experienced London DJs.

As part of the East Preston Festival this year, organisers have set up the event’s first DJ competition.

It will be free to enter, with organisers expecting to run three knock-out rounds before a grand final, in June.

The competition will be in two categories, over-18s and under-18s, with top prizes available in each section.

The over-18s’ winner will get to host their own set in a London club while their younger counterparts will broadcast live on Optical Radio, also in London.

The sessions will be held in either the village hall, in Sea Road, or East Preston FC’s clubhouse, in Lashmar Road, and will last for about four hours. A full speaker and lighting set will be provided by AWOL sound system hire and the DJ equipment is being provided courtesy of Sussex DJ Equipment Hire.

A team of professional DJs will be sitting as judges.

To enter the event, visit Hedgers Newsagents, in Sea Road, East Preston, and pick up a form. Alternatively, email [email protected]

Applications should all be returned before the deadline date of Monday (January 27).
