Durrington students become magistrates

STUDENTS at Durrington High School became magistrates for the day to give them a better understanding of the consequences of crime.

Year eight students at the school in The Boulevard took part in the Magistrates in the Community Day 2012, the third annual year the event has taken place.

Teacher Sharon Nixon, who organised the event with Pam Wells, the co-ordinator for magistrates in the community, said: “The event was very intensive, but the students thoroughly enjoyed themselves, especially when it came to being involved in the decision making process.”

The event comprised an introductory assembly and five workshops.
