Worthing High School exceeded its targets as 90 percent of its pupils gained 5 A*-C grades.
The results placed it significantly above the national averages, with especially strong performances in music, statistics, biology and physics.
Headteacher Alison Beer said: “The school’s results were well deserved following a significant amount of work by both staff and students. All of the additional work given by staff in terms of mentoring and coaching has been particularly successful which is very gratifying.”
