A MOTHER has been left baffled by a decision to grant her daughter a place at a primary school almost three miles from her home.
Kate Walker, who lives in Worthing town centre, hoped her daughter, Jessica Slee, 4, would get a place at one of the many schools near to her Stanhope Road home.
But instead, Jessica has been given a place at Durrington First School, which is 2.7 miles away and an hour door-to-door on a bus.
Kate, 38, said: “I hadn’t even looked around Durrington because it wasn’t even on our radar.
“There are seven or eight other schools that are closer to our house than this one, so I just couldn’t understand how we didn’t get one of those.”
A West Sussex County Council spokesman said he could not comment on individual cases until an appeal had been lodged.
