WORTHING College hopes it will soon receive the go-ahead for its £21million relocation from Bolsover Road to the former Aviva insurance site at The Warren, Broadwater.

Borough council planning chief James Appleton told the Herald his department was looking at a February date for councillors to decide whether to give full permission for three major linked applications to enable the college to move to The Warren’s 18-acre site.

In addition to approving the college scheme for its proposed new location, the borough’s planning committee will also be asked to give the go-ahead to 265 new homes on the college’s present Bolsover Road site, and approval to a further 36-home development at The Warren.

Discussions are still proceeding over the number of affordable homes which may be provided on the Bolsover Road development.

The college had hoped to move onto the new site in the summer of 2012, ready for the new academic year. But progress has been delayed by protracted negotiations between the Highways Authority and West Sussex County Council over traffic issues in the Grove Lodge A27 roundabout area.
