The woman, from Lower Dicker, was involved in a four-vehicle collision on the A27 westbound at the Lancing College junction at 12.45pm on Sunday.

Paramedics assessed a number of people at the scene but no one is believed to have been seriously injured.

Officers tested the eyesight of the Suzuki Baleno driver because they were concerned about the quality of her vision.

The woman could only read a number plate from 7.3 metres away – well short of the legal requirement of 20 metres.

Police confiscated her driving licence and contacted the DVLA asking for the immediate revocation of her licence so that she cannot drive again.
