ELECTIONS: Your guide to the political parties standing in your area

And this year, there are plenty of candidates and parties to choose from.

Worthing residents will have the luxury of selecting candidates from five parties in this year’s borough elections, with each seat hotly contested.

In an unprecedented showing, Worthing Green Party is fielding candidates in each ward, with UKIP also following suit.

As Worthing Borough Council follows the thirds system, not every councillor is up for election this time, with just 13 of the 37 seats up for grabs across the area’s wards on polling day on Thursday, May 22.

Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats, UKIP and Green all have a strong presence for the Adur District Council elections, with places up for grabs in each of the region’s 14 wards. As a halves council, not all councillors are up for election this year, with 15 places across the wards available on polling day.

This week, each of the five parties vying for votes have set out their key policies. A full candidates list is also provided.
