A DJ who attempted a gruelling 101-mile endurance trek for charity was stuck down by injury after completing 37 miles of the course.

Despite turning his ankle on rough terrain, Steve Lovell, of Cokeham Lane, Sompting, battled on for another seven miles to the next checkpoint on his route along the South Downs Way, where he was forced to stop.

He is now determined to complete the rest of the challenge in spite of his injury, and plans to tackle the remaining 61 miles in three stages.
