Eastbourne tree planting project goes ahead

Langney councillors Alan Shuttleworth, Candy Vaughan and Harun Miah have been working with Eastbourne ECO Action Network to organise a tree planting project. The project was only able to happen due to the devolved budget scheme, which allows people to contact their local councillors with funding suggestions for initiatives, events or one-off works.

Each ward is given £10,000 each year for the scheme with the aim of improving the lives of residents.

In this case £1,800 was used for the ECO Action Network’s Treebourne project in which thousands of trees were planted in Sevenoaks Road Recreation Ground.

The project is aimed at improving the natural environment while fighting climate change and has been supported by many volunteer planters from across the community.
