MEN swapped the traditional blue and yellow colours of the Sussex County Football Association for shocking pink to help fund research into breast cancer.
A 10-mile run and a pub quiz held at the Sussex County FA headquarters, in Lancing, saw £1,800 raised for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Breast Cancer Campaign – triple the amount they raised last year.
FA employees Ashley Slaughter and James Westlake embarked on the 10-mile run on Friday, October 21, from Brighton’s Palace Pier to their ground in Culver Road, with Kevin Tharme and Oliver Benbow providing some much needed two-wheeled support.
Ashley, the general manager, said: “We wanted to again show our support for breast cancer research as we know first hand how devastating and widespread the disease can be.
“Not just to the individual, but to the families and friends of those affected.”
While the run was taking place on Friday, October 21, staff back at the office were encouraged to dress up in pink clothing to show their support for the go-pink day and donate any money they could towards the cause.
In the evening, more than 80 people descended on the Sussex FA headquarters to put their knowledge to the test at the pink pub quiz and raffle.
