Fair raises £4,700

A YEAR'S hard work paid off for parishioners of Holy Cross Church, Uckfield, on Saturday when their Christmas fair raised £4,700 for church funds.

About 800 people called in at the Civic Centre to visit 26 stalls filled with gifts especially prepared to be sold at the fair.

There was jams and cakes, needlework and raffles, scarves and bathtime goodies as well as tombolas and bric-a-brac. 'It was a lovely day, we had a lot of fun,' said churchwarden Mrs Margaret Phillips, who added that before very long preparations would start all over again for next year's fair.
