Families appeal for return of items stolen in Worthing

TWO FAMILIES are pleading for help after their homes were targeted by jewellery thieves.

Rings, bracelets, necklaces, watches, earrings and pendants were among the items taken from the two Worthing properties.

The first home struck was in Dagmar Street between 10.30am and 12.20pm on Wednesday, April 21, where jewellery belonging to a family member who had just died was stolen.

The large quantity of precious items were worth several thousand pounds, with 11 rings, including wedding rings, two silver chains, five bracelets, one ladies watch, a ring box, two pairs of earrings, two men's watches, two christening bracelets, four necklaces and two silver St Christopher pendants among the haul.

Cash, a camera and a DVD player were also stolen.

Police have said the intruder forced a rear kitchen window and door of the home to gain entry.

The second home targeted was in First Avenue on Thursday, April 22, with the burglar forcing a ground-floor window open to gain access between 9am and 3.30pm.

Among the items stolen was a yellow gold bangle with a serpent's head and emerald eyes and an Armani watch with a silver-coloured linked bracelet and rectangular mother-of-pearl face.

Detectives are not linking the two incidents.
