Father and daughter tackle walk for Diabetes UK

A MAN suffering with type 2 diabetes is tackling a nine mile walk alongside his teen daughter to raise funds for Diabetes UK.

HGV driver Julian Warrick, 45, of Melville Way, Goring, was diagnosed with the condition four years ago after the British Heart Foundation visited his work to carry out health checks.

Julian said: “It was a nice gift for when I was 40.

“When I found out I had diabetes there was a lifestyle change, just being healthy and eating carefully and doing regular exercise.”

On Sunday, Julian and Katie, 14, will walk from Albert Bridge in Chelsea, following the course of the Thames and taking in 12 bridges, before finishing at Tower Bridge.

“Come rain or shine we will be there. I’m looking forward to it,” said Julian.

The route also takes in many London landmarks along the way such as the London Eye, the Tower of London and the Houses of Parliament.

Julian is a member of the West Sussex Downs Diabetes UK group based in Steyning.
