Festival set to brighten up seafront

THE promenade will be a hive of activity on Wednesday as the Tide of Light Festival returns for its second year.

Fireworks, a lantern parade, fairground rides, live music, street food and more will be on offer along the seafront and in the town from 1pm through until 10pm.

The festival, in aid of the Worthing Lions, is free but volunteers from the charity will be making collections.

Marian Down, Worthing Lions’ PR officer, said: “Last year’s event proved so successful it was decided to stage it again.

“Steyne Gardens will be lit with a magnificent display of giant lanterns, the likes of which have not been seen before in Worthing.

“Make a note in your diary to bring the children down to Worthing Promenade for what promises to be a brilliant firework party.”

Last year’s event attracted more than 25,000 visitors.

This year, the main sponsor is housing developer Kier Living.
