Fete is cancelleddue to the storm

The forecast predicted more bad weather on Saturday but organiser Ralph Dellow said: “They could not have got it more wrong as it was sunny for most of the morning on Saturday.”

The fete, which was to have taken place on the village green, was aiming to raise money for Sedlescombe Primary pupil Christian Fortunato,

Christian was born with cerebral palsy and his family are trying to raise funds for an operation to help him walk again and realise his dream of playing football.

Ralph Dellow said: “We are in the process of arranging a rescheduled fayre in Sedlescombe Village Hall. We will also use the space outside of the hall wherever possible. The fayre will be in the afternoon from 1.30 till 4.30

“The fayre which will consist of craft tables mainly in the Hall and other attractions which will include a bouncy castle and fortune teller.

“We will be holding a raffle in the hall the star prize being a round of golf donated by the local golf course management for four people worth £ 100. There will be other prizes several valued at about £25.

“There will be an entry charge of 50p children free. It is likely the Chief Constable will open the event.”

Max Fortunato, Christian’s father, says he is overwhelmed by the support the family has received.

He said: “The amount of support we have received is out of this world. It is hard to express in words how touched we are.”
