Findon Valley’s first charity shop is opened

Worthing mayor Michael Donin opened the Guild Care shop today at 11am.

He said: “Guild Care is one of my three charities for the year. The reason I chose it was because it provides one of the most important services to the community.

“One in four of us may require its services at one time or another and therefore, I urge everybody in our community to support Guild Care. I feel very strongly about this.

“If you have any unwanted items, please take them along to one of the Guild Care shops and donate them. All this helps to generate the funding that is so needed for the charity’s activities.”

This is the charity’s seventh outlet, including five high street shops in Worthing and one in Rustington.

Retail manager Jonathan Bishop said: “It is fantastic to have another shop in the Worthing area and we know that Findon Valley has been desperate to have a charity shop. They have not had one in the parade before.

“People have welcomed us with open arms and many have offered their services as volunteers. If anyone has an interest in helping for a few hours a week, please get in touch.

“We look forward to a long and prosperous time in Findon Valley, raising money for Guild Care. We rely on donations and would welcome good quality stock for the shop.”

The shop is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5.30pm and shop manager Krissy Ratanakul said it would also be open on Sunday, 10am to 4pm, from September.

“I like it because it is a local charity that offers so many activities. The shop is a bit like a little department store, we sell all sorts of goods.

“I find it interesting because you get given some really quirky things. We also get a lot of vintage stuff and people are very generous with their donations.”
