A WOMEN’S institute held a special meeting when it celebrated the 100th birthday of ones of its members.
Ella Dockrell, a member of Findon Downs Women’s Institute for around 30 years, celebrated the milestone birthday earlier this month.
Because of her arthritis, Ella has been unable to attend the women’s institute recently but made a special visit for the meeting, which included tea and birthday cake.
Members at the institute drank a toast to Ella, proposed by the Rev Bob Whittle, and she was presented with a basket of flowers.
“Some of Ella’s favourite music was played during the afternoon by Lis Hobden and a smiling Ella left later to enjoy further celebrations during the week with friends and family,” said institute member Jean Easey.
