Fine for Worthing woman after noise row

A WOMAN "afflicted by constant noise" struck her neighbour in the face with a hammer after she refused to turn her music down.

Nicola Padfield, of Park Crescent, Worthing, had previously complained to her neighbours about the "constant noise" they made with their music but had been consistently ignored, Worthing Magistrates' Court heard on Tuesday (May 4).

Around 1am on April 22, Padfield got into a confrontation with her neighbour, Laura Tee, and ended up hitting her in the face with a hammer.

The court heard Padfield, 43, also broke Laura Tee's door after she had knocked on it with her hammer in an attempt to be heard over the loud music.

District judge Roger Ede said: "I can understand how difficult it is for you living in the circumstances you live in.

"You have been afflicted by noise but you're not to take the law into your hands."

Padfield pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm and was ordered to pay a total of 285, including 85 prosecution costs.
