Fire tackled near high-rise buildings in Worthing

FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze near a high-rise building in Worthing, after paper was lit near bins.

At 2.21am last night (Wednesday, August 3), firefighters were called to the fire, which had started in a bin storage area, at Hampton Court, Brighton Road.

Firefighters also saved a man from the fire, but he refused medical treatment.

Crew commander Mark Upperton, of White Watch, said: “The important thing is to keep refuge shelters locked. Bins can easily set light and can spread to actual buildings.”
