Five arrested after fight in Worthing town centre

Five men have been arrested following a fight in Worthing town centre on Sunday evening.

A 26-year-old man and an off-duty police officer were assaulted and the man was taken to hospital with an arm injury.

Three of them have been charged with various offences, one has been bailed and another cautioned following the incident which spilled into Marine Parade at 10pm.

Valdemaras Garunkstis, 23, of no fixed address, has been charged with affray, assault and assaulting a police officer.

Tadas Vaiciukiutis, 29, of no fixed address, has been charged with affray, assault and theft.

Mantas Vaiciukiutis, 26,of Wordsworth Road, Worthing, has been charged with affray, assault and assaulting a police officer.

All three are due to appear before Worthing Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.

A 35-year-old man from Worthing who was arrested for affray at the scene has been released on bail until 20 April and a man aged 49 from Coventry who was arrested at the scene for a public order offence was cautioned.
