Flash floods reported in Findon, Worthing and Lancing

THE Herald is getting early reports of flash floods in North Lancing and Findon today (Wednesday, July 11).

Drivers have reported difficult conditions following sudden heavy downpours.

UPDATE 12.45pm: Fire service confirms fast-flowing water is rising in Findon Road, Findon Valley, not affecting properties at this time.

UPDATE 1.10pm: Drivers report deep water on the A27 Arundel Road, in Worthing, near Meadowfield Hospital. Our editor, Colin Channon, just drove along the road and said: “Much more rain and the road will be impassable.”

UPDATE 2.15pm: Reports that the drain covers have lifted on the Ilex Way roundabout, near to the Mulberry pub, in Goring.

UPDATE 2.20pm: Junction of Boundary Road and Manor Road, Worthing, flooded.

UPDATE 2.45pm: Extremely slow traffic on Brighton Road near to the Navarino Road and Windsor Road, Worthing, area. According to one reader cars are “slowing to a crawl”.

UPDATE 4.15pm: A reader reported the road near the Amsterdam pub, in Upper Shoreham Road, Shoreham, and the A27 Shoreham flyover as “bad” with water lying on the road.
