THE ceremonial heads of Adur and Worthing Councils may both be stepping down this month, but residents won’t have heard the last of the duo as they plan to take to the stage as a comedy double act.

Mr Smytherman said: “I have really enjoyed the last 12 months as mayor and working closely with Mike from Adur at numerous events and we have formed a great ‘double act’ and it would be fantastic if we can carry that on when we are ‘unchained’.

“I hope we can together bring a little sunshine to Worthing and Adur.”

Mr Mendoza said: “Bob and I have attended many events over the past year, we have both had to make speeches and decided to make it a bit of a double act. We seemed to be booked to appear together at more and more events, we both have wicked senses of humour and we seemed to have evolved into a bit of a Morecambe and Wise act”

Some of the material will be gleamed from constituents’ letters, with lines such as ‘It’s the dog’s mess that I find hard to swallow!’ and ‘my lavatory seat is cracked, where do I stand?”

Two Old Mayors have already secured bookings as far away as Birmingham.
