A FOSTER care agency based in Lancing is embarking on a tall challenge in February with a 13-strong group set to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
Staff, foster carers and social workers from Foster Care Associates (FCA), which has an office in The Triangle, Lancing, will be raising funds for The Rees Foundation – a charity which supports those that have spent time in care.
The 11-day trek, on February 6 to 16, will take the team to the peak of the highest mountain in Africa, in temperatures ranging from very hot at the outset to bitterly cold when reaching the summit.
In the lead up to the climb they have been put through their paces with regular training sessions at Snowdonia to ensure they are in top condition.
David Oldham, chief executive of FCA, said: “This challenge brings together a group who feel passionately about establishing a strong support network for those who have spent time in care.”
Sarah Milan, director of the Rees Foundation, said: “We want to help anyone who has been in care at any stage to thrive as adults.”
