Four arrested at Asda in Ferring

A Littlehampton man arrested in an Asda car park last Saturday on suspicion of drug driving has been bailed.

The 29-year-old was one of four men arrested at the Ferring store after police suspected they were in a stolen car.

The other three men were released without charge. The 29-year-old was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug driving and driving without insurance or a valid licence and bailed until May 9.

A police spokesperson said: “At 3.15pm on Saturday (19 March) police were made aware of a suspected stolen car being left at the Ferring Country Centre.

“Four men were then seen to get into the vehicle, a burgundy red Volvo S40, which was stopped shortly afterwards in the Asda supermarket car park at Ferring.

“All four occupants were initially arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent.

“No further action was taken against three of the occupants.

“A 29-year-old man from Littlehampton has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving, no insurance, and driving other than in accordance with a licence. He has been bailed to 9 May while enquiries continue.”
