Free course for carers in Worthing

Unpaid carers are being invited to sign up for a new free course offering support and advice.

Confidence in Caring (CiC) is a innovative programme of flexible sessions offering support to carers, aiming to empower and enable.

The programme’s main aim is to help carers to make a positive difference to their own life and that of the person they care for.

Research from Carers UK shows that 65 per cent of people with caring responsibility don’t identify themselves as a ‘carer’ in the first year of caring – and a third of carers don’t identify themselves as carers for over five years.

These people are sometimes described as ‘hidden carers’.

The seven sessions are designed to cover a range of areas, from what people need to take care of themselves personally to ways of equipping themselves to do the best for the person they care for.

The sessions also look at the skills people already have or would like to develop.

The first session, ‘Finding Your Way’, will introduce carers to the programme and the following six sessions – with people welcome to choose which to attend.
