Fresh Egg digital marketing firm opens new Worthing base

From starting out as a hopeful internet venture in a Worthing bedroom, Fresh Egg has travelled a long way in the past decade.

As the innovative digital marketing firm opens its new offices at Buckingham Road, the company has gained a major new contract with Vodafone in Australia opening up its global opportunities.

At 34, managing director Adam Stafford exudes youthful confidence in the ever-evolving agency he started with his sister Pip and fellow web designer Lee Colbran. They remain at the heart of what has grown into a multi-million pound concern.

“Being from Worthing we really wanted to keep the business in the town. There was quite a lot of pressure on us to consider moving to Brighton or London but we’ve decided to set up shop here.

“Our move into the new offices is hugely significant for us as it gives us room for controlled expansion. We don’t want to be big for the sake of being big – it’s more important to be the best than be big,” explained Adam as he offered a tour of its stylish new headquarters on the site of the old Allied Carpets Centre.

Its bold glass-partitioned design featuring murals and striking decor seem inspired straight out of a scene from Facebook movie The Social Network.

The new facilities, which represent a £400,000 investment, underline its intent on creating something different for the team’s home town. To date, its mix of search engine optimisation (SEO) techniques, web design and commercial intelligence gathering has seen it gain a number of major clients.

Among its list of projects have been consulting work for C4 for on its internet strategy, news network CNN and web design for Natwest Stockbrokers.

This has all helped firmly position it as one of the region’s largest agencies.

But to its credit, far from being focused purely on international business, Fresh Egg has ensured it does not neglect engaging with firms closer to home.

Prominent local companies including estate agents Michael Jones, hairdressers Richard John and Worthing Emergency Vets feature in its portfolio of clients.

While its professional web design and management services carry a premium (from £10,000 per site build), the company is confident that by making an investment, its clients can expect positive returns in generating increased levels of business and customer interest.

Enjoying buoyant fortunes despite the uncertain economic backdrop, the firm employs around 60 full-time staff and is recruiting for key positions.

According to its director there’s a refreshing level of co-operation between agencies within the digital arena that has enabled its own services to evolve with the market.

Clearly, dealing with a rapidly-changing online environment is quite some challenge.

“When we started out with the company it was SEO that I really became passionate about, working on how you can effectively build businesses online and market them compared to more traditional means of marketing.

“With digital marketing everything is highly measurable and you can work out your return on investment which is what we do with our website design.

“The internet has changed beyond belief since we started. There are huge differences each year, almost every month, especially with the emergence of social networks.

“Facebook wasn’t around five years ago but now something like 50 per cent of the population are on there. “Social media is something that is extremely important to us in terms of building business brands, communicating with customers and reputation management of companies,” explained Adam, who says the company still values engaging with regional and national print media.
