MEMBERS of the Marine Garden Bowls Club presented the West Sussex Air Ambulance service with a cheque for a ‘record’ amount of money at their final game of the year.
Jill Colbourn, captain of the club, in Marine Parade, Worthing, chose to support the charity as part of her year in the role.
The club raised almost £1,600.
Jill said: “The amount we raised is a record for the club and the volunteers I think. I am absolutely delighted.”
“There is a great need for it as they do not get funding. It is such a worthwhile cause.
“The volunteers told us an emotive story about a girl who would have died if an air ambulance was not on hand. They can get to places ordinary ambulances cannot.”
