Frank and Jo Hutchinson were major cultural contributors in Worthing, both serving as chairman of the Friends of Worthing Museum when they were alive.

Frank passed away in 2010 and, after Jo passed away in April, her replacement as chairman decided to push for a permanent memorial.

Abe Marrache is looking to raise £550 for a stained glass window on Worthing Pier.

“It is only fit and proper,” he said.

“I’ve only been here for five years but people who knew them all their life have come forward and said this needs to be done.

“As time went by I realised how much they have done for the town.

“Their impact went far beyond the museum.”

The JustGiving page charts some of the Hutchinson’s work, including the transformation of the museum’s garden into a space for art and sculpture installations.

Jo acted for and was director of the West Sussex Players, while Frank took leading roles in its productions. He was also a member of the Worthing Operatic Society and regular participant in the Worthing Music Festival.

Jo was the chair of the Worthing Community Arts Council and staged annual artists’ exhibitions.

In 2016, she was awarded with a British Empire Medal by the Queen for services to arts and culture.

“When you put into context all the different things they supported financially and personally, the least we can do is to give something back,” said Abe. Visit www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/val-bolt-and-abe-marrache
